1 Cleveland 2006 Boat Show

The Cleveland Model Boat Club is sharing the pool with Chesapeake Performance Models, maker of the CR 914 sailboat. The sailboat guy is there hoping to make some money, so he gets most of the water time to demonstrate his wares. The CMBC is scheduled for demonstartions 2 or 3 times a day. I usually run the SKIPJACK for the first 10-15 minutes of our demos, and then shift to one of my surface ships - usually the TAMAROA or PT 188. I've passed out several SubCommittee brochures and told many more about the SubRegatta. A few people have said they would go to the SubRegatta to find out more about our models. I purchased one of Merriman's "Intro to R/C Sub" videos a few years ago, and play that at least twice a day. Most of the video tape the club has is nitro and gas race boats.
The "semisub" picture is of a semi-submersible boat built by a gentleman in the Cleveland Amatuer Boat Building Society. The semi-sub is powered by a modified electric trolling motor.

We met in Carmel Indiana for an end of summer fun run. Although the weatherman threatened us all weekend, it only rained for about two minutes Friday afternoon and it turned beautiful after that! As construction nears completion in the area, the pond was the clearest we have seen it.

For our first outdoor event of 2004 we headed back to Carmel. The site is wonderful and the hospitality afforded us by Chris Campbell and all the Indy Admirals is absolutely 'top shelf'.

EMYC - Parade of Model Boats 2003

The EMYC Parade of Model boats in Edina, Minnesota on June 8, 2003 pulled of without a hitch. SubCommittee members in attendance included Gary Phillips, Tim Smalley, Tom Pallo and Mike Day. There were 150 boats - most of them "targets" but there were six subs - including USS Albacore by new SR6 member Gary Phillips of Eagan, MN and a beautiful Disney Nautilus by a non-SubRon 6 member, Kirk Brust. The weather cooperated for most of the day and there were an estimated 2,000 spectators plus two TV news crews taped the event.

2) 2005 Winter Fun Run
|
|
We had a nice fun run alongside the Indianapolis Admirals at the Carmel Indiana High School. Several of us also went to Art "Chip" Meyer's memorial service. Art was one of the original RC submarine builders - putting his first RC sub in the water in 1959. He was also a good friend and mentor to us all.
