SubRon 6 2011 Fall Fun Run

The SubRon 6 2011 Fall Fun Run on October 22 was a smashing success. Bubbleheads from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana all made the pilgrimage to Carmel Indiana, home of SubRegatta 2011 and one of the best RC sub venues in North America.
We met at our base of operations, the Hampton Inn, on Friday afternoon and headed over to TGI Fridays for the SubRon 6 quarterly business meeting (dinner). Lots of stories, jokes and general bull was shared and I suspect the poor server who worked our table was happy to see us leave when we did!
There was a thick layer of frost on the windshields Saturday morning, but after finishing our complimentary breakfasts at the hotel, it had pretty much been burned off by the bright sunshine. When we reached the pond, it was nearly 60 degrees and a great fall day to run subs!

We met in Carmel Indiana for an end of summer fun run. Although the weatherman threatened us all weekend, it only rained for about two minutes Friday afternoon and it turned beautiful after that! As construction nears completion in the area, the pond was the clearest we have seen it.

For our first outdoor event of 2004 we headed back to Carmel. The site is wonderful and the hospitality afforded us by Chris Campbell and all the Indy Admirals is absolutely 'top shelf'.

Chris Campbell and the rest of the Indianapolis Admirals made us feel very welcome at this event held at the Carmel High School pool. This great facility was idea for running subs and just having a great time!

EMYC - Parade of Model Boats 2003

The EMYC Parade of Model boats in Edina, Minnesota on June 8, 2003 pulled of without a hitch. SubCommittee members in attendance included Gary Phillips, Tim Smalley, Tom Pallo and Mike Day. There were 150 boats - most of them "targets" but there were six subs - including USS Albacore by new SR6 member Gary Phillips of Eagan, MN and a beautiful Disney Nautilus by a non-SubRon 6 member, Kirk Brust. The weather cooperated for most of the day and there were an estimated 2,000 spectators plus two TV news crews taped the event.

2) 2005 Winter Fun Run
|
|
We had a nice fun run alongside the Indianapolis Admirals at the Carmel Indiana High School. Several of us also went to Art "Chip" Meyer's memorial service. Art was one of the original RC submarine builders - putting his first RC sub in the water in 1959. He was also a good friend and mentor to us all.
